Sunshine Island Beginners Guide: How to Get Started:
Trent Acker gives you an introduction to the basics of your initial gameplay, but you want to get solidly into the game fast. Your first task? Planting wheat. It’s just like other farming games — tap on a field, choose wheat, and it’s instantly sown. Simple!
This is a fun farming game where you plant various crops, care for animals and can turn your farm into a flourishing paradise, Welcome to Sunshine Island! This guide will take you through everything you need to know about building the ultimate farm, from feeding cows to joining guilds and catching fish.
Getting Started: Farm Life Basics
There are lots of production facilities in the game which help you grow the game. You begin with straightforward farming tasks (planting wheat, harvesting crops). By the time you harvest your first bunch of wheat, you’ll have to construct a windmill. Just hit MANUFACTURE to craft it.
Then you’ll have to care for your cows. Tap on the cowshed first to check how long it’ll take to feed them. If you want it quicker, you can speed things up by using 4 diamonds.
You can unlock more buildings such as a feed mill, another cowshed, a bakery and so much more as you level up!
Expanding Your Island and Buildings
You move up to level 4, and you can build houses, and even name your island! My island is called heaven, but you can call yours whatever you want. In order for you to progress further quick on your own island, you need to add the number of houses so that more people can come and populate your island, thus boosting your production.
Want to move a building? It’s easy! Click on the building and then click on the arrow on the left to get into edit mode. You can also tap and drag a building to reposition it.
It is worth expanding your land, but the prices go up. The initial expansion is inexpensive, but subsequent expansions can run as high as 5,500 coins.
Join a Guild at Level 12
You can now start or join a guild once you hit level 12! To locate a jaana, head on over to the left side of your main island, where you’ll find Guild Island, and tap on the lighthouse. From the Guild tab, if a guild has open spots, simply hit the green JOIN button.
Currently the top guild in the game is MooMooManiacs at level 46! Other players even come up with creative names for their islands.
Compete in Guild and Player Tournaments
And every two weeks there’s a Guild Tournament where teams battle for points. Simply tap the tournament tent on Guild Island to view rankings and rewards.
There’s also a Player Tournament where individual players compete, by completing missions for market, aircraft, and ships. When the tournament is active, you’ll see a trophy icon above the tournament building.
Now, your luck bonus also applies to your tournament points. To see if you’re lucky, tap the smiley face icon on the top left of your screen.
How to Keep Your Islanders Happy
The island is named Sunshine Island, the happiness aspect is a big part of the game. A happy population reduces production costs and ensures that your farm goes smoothly. Here’s how to keep your people happy:
Build swimming pools along with sun loungers, gazebos to contemplate areas. Upgrading homes is the best way to house more individuals without taking up too much space. This also allows you to increase happiness, and therefore the overall population, simply by upgrading the town hall.
Fishing Unlocks at Level 18
Fishing is a fun feature of Sunshine Island and becomes available once you reach level 18. There are seven different types of fish, and here’s how to get started:
- Tap the small boat icon.
- Control the boat with the joystick.
- Locate a fish, halt the craft, and click the fishing rod icon.
- Bring your bait near a fish and wait for it to bite.
- If you get a bite, tap the screen fast! If you dawdle, it will get away from you. You can sell the fish for Sea Silver to spend on special items.
- You have to wait 30 minutes to retrieve the bait. You can’t currently buy bait with gems, but the developers may change this in the future.
The Four Islands in the Game
There are four main islands in Sunshine Island:
Lore Main Island – The starting island of the game.
Tropical Island – Unlocks later; great for plantations.
Jade Island – Presents new challenges and opportunities.
Guild Island – Join guilds/tournaments.
Each of these islands becomes available to you as you play, and you can easily hop back and forth between them.
Sunshine Island Best Tips for Growing Your Farm
Save your diamonds – If you spend them too quickly, it’s hard to earn them back later.
Complete quests — Always check your quest book for additional rewards.
Place buildings wisely – This is one of the best tips for farm village – try to group buildings logically. You’re supposed to preserve things like the cowshed next to feed mill for efficiency.
Back up your account — If you don’t log in with an account or e-mail, you may lose where you’ve gotten to.
Use loyalty points – These unlock special decorations that increase happiness.
Expand smartly – The first expansion is cheap, but later ones can be expensive.
Plan your resources – Track and spend your wheat, flour and feed resources.
Keep your workers happy — Address their demands if you want maximum production.
Don’t rush upgrades — Some upgrades are time-consuming yet worth it

Sunshine Island features good graphics, easy controls, and a variety of buildings and upgrades. You are tasked with improving and decorating several islands, conversing with friendly characters, and competing in tournaments.
With a bit of patience, and by not overspending on in-app purchases, you’ll be able to advance without problems. I’m currently at level 14, the game is getting progressively harder, but I’m looking forward to what’s next!
